Recent memories

Sue Boyd

Sue died peacefully on November 23rd. She loved Barnes the place and the people in it with a great passion. She was an active volunteer for FiSH while she could and then enjoyed the benefit back in her later years. She would be glad to know that in remembrance of her, her many friends from Barnes and around the world would give whatever they feel they can to such a good cause.

Sylvia Hellel

Our Mother, Sylvia Ann Hellel passed away peacefully on Remembrance Sunday, 8th November 2020.
Her last few months were made all the more bearable thanks to the incredible work of FiSH, whose friendship and love over the years that Mum was ill will never be forgotten.

Michael Ludlow

Michael – our beloved Dad, Grandad, Uncle, Godfather, friend, colleague, and neighbour – passed away at home  with family and his dog Trudy beside him, after excellent innings of 89 years.

Independence, autonomy and meaningful human connection were important values to Michael. This perhaps fuelled his superhuman ability to care for his wife Sheila throughout her brave journey with Alzheimers; and later, for himself, to be able to live as independently as possible when his own health deteriorated.

For this, we have the local charity FiSH to thank with their practical and social support. The range of services FiSH could offer meant that a volunteer bought Michael’s weekly shopping for him, Michael was able to mix with old and new friends at bridge or social events; and his wife Sheila was able to travel to and take part in stimulating activities whilst Michael could have some time to catch up with himself.
