Sheen Open Gardens
Sunday 9th June 2019 from 1-6pm
Our popular Open Gardens takes place in Sheen on Sunday June 9th from 1:00pm-6:00pm. The event is being actively supported by the Mortlake with East Sheen Society (MESS) and is being very kindly sponsored by Savills in East Sheen.
This year we have assembled an attractive collection of over 25 gardens, including park-side locations in Christchurch Road, Claire Lawn Avenue, East Sheen Avenue, Fife Road, Hertford Avenue, Longfield Drive, Palewell Park, Richmond Park Road, Temple Sheen plus many gardens in Model Cottages, as well as the Palewell Park Allotments.
Teas and refreshments will be served at All Saints Church where visitors can also enjoy their garden and there will be a Pimm's tent at End House in Fife Road with live music courtesy of an ensemble from Barnes Concert Band. Garden enthusiasts taking refreshment at All Saints Church will also be able to tap into garden advice from Auntie Planty, aka Valerie McBride-Munro, the renowned horticulturist who will be on hand to dispense useful tips.
For those needing to fortify themselves ahead of touring the gardens, The Hare and Hounds opens at midday and FiSH Open Gardens ticket holders can get a discount off food and drink to enjoy in their recently restored beer garden.
To help everyone visit as many gardens as possible, we will be operating a shuttle bus service using the FiSH minibuses to run a circular route between Waitrose, All Saints, Fife Road and Christ Church.
Micky Forster, Director of FiSH: ‘’Open Gardens is a wonderful community event made possible by residents kindly opening their gardens and by the many volunteers from both FiSH and MESS who give up their time both in advance and on the day. It’s also an important fundraiser for FiSH and we very grateful to everyone who makes it happen for us. Do come and enjoy the day!’’
